Dr. Shelby Osborne

Dr. Shelby Osborne is a board-certified OB-GYN physician originally from Fayetteville, Arkansas. In 2004, she finished her undergraduate degree in human health and physiology and minors in chemistry and Spanish at Hendrix College. She attended medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and moved to Memphis, Tennessee to complete her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

She has received awards for multiple research presentations, chief resident, and excellence in laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. She speaks Spanish after doing a medical Spanish immersion program in Ecuador. She specializes in high-risk pregnancies, fertility, and gynecological procedures. She enjoys living in Colorado as she loves the high-country activities and the mountains. She cycles, skis, hikes, and travels on her days off. She lives with her husband, Chris, and their three vizsla dogs in Breckenridge. She enjoys working closely with the Summit Community Care Clinic through its partnership with Swan Mountain Women’s & Family Clinic. She looks forward to caring for the women in Summit County for years to come.

SMWFC Dr. Holly Hickman

Dr. Holly Hickman

Dr. Holly Hickman is a board-certified OB-GYN. She has been practicing medicine here at Swan Mountain Women’s and Family Clinic since 2019. She is originally from Jackson, Tennessee, where she graduated summa cum laude from Lambuth University. She went on to medical school at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, where she graduated at the top of her class and received the faculty medal for the highest academic achievement. She was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and won the top student award from the Department of OB-GYN.

Dr. Hickman then completed her residency at the University of Louisville. During her residency, she received the top teaching award as an intern and was named the best all-around resident as a chief resident. She was particularly interested in minimally invasive robotic surgery, logging over 200 robotic-assisted surgeries as a resident.

Holly and her husband have two sons. They also have two dogs: Indy, a German shorthaired pointer, and Hank, a beagle rescue. The Hickmans love living in Summit County! Holly loves to ski, hike, mountain bike, spend time on the lake, and camp. Her other hobbies include cooking and reading.

Dr. Hickman enjoys the breadth of the specialty of OB-GYN with particular interests in obstetrics, robotic surgery, and vulvar diseases.

SMWC - Dr. Andrew Carton

Dr. Andrew Catron

Dr. Andrew Catron is originally from Oklahoma City. After completing his undergraduate work at Oklahoma State, he attended Medical School at the University of Oklahoma as a resident in Family Medicine. While working as an Emergency Room physician, he realized his true passion was Obstetrics and Gynecology.

He returned and completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Oklahoma and practiced for a year in Seattle, Washington, before coming to Colorado in 1993.

He practiced for twelve years in Colorado Springs, where he started and built the largest and most successful OB-GYN practice in the area. Dr. Catron was the chairman of the OB-GYN department at Penrose-St. Francis Hospital during his last four years of practice in Colorado Springs. He then moved to Denver, where he has worked as a senior instructor of OB-GYN residents and medical students at Denver Health for five years. Over the past several years, he has made several trips to Nepal to perform surgical repairs for patients with uterine prolapse, a common problem in Nepal. Dr. Catron and his wife Tracy have had a home in Summit County for the past 16 years and are glad to now be full-time residents here. They have six children.

Dr. Carol Cox

Dr. Carol Cox is a board-certified OB-GYN who is excited to bring her family to Summit County. Raised in a military family, she was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. She majored in Biomedical Engineering at North Carolina State University, where she met her husband, Wesley. She developed a passion for service and health care as a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in college and during mission trips to Guatemala, where she decided on a career in medicine. She obtained her medical degree from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in 2014.

She and her husband moved to Louisville, Kentucky, to complete her residency training in OB-GYN at the University of Louisville. She was the chief resident and received additional awards in research and ambulatory care. After completing her residency in 2018, she practiced OB-GYN in Louisville for a high-volume, high-risk, full-scale OB-GYN practice for three years with interests in high and low-risk obstetrics, minimally invasive surgery (including robotic surgery), contraception care, adolescent gynecology, and sexual health.

In Louisville, the Cox family grew to include their Schnoodle, Ripley, and they welcomed their first child, Gus, last Spring. Dr. Cox is excited to bring her skills and passion for women’s health to Summit County. The Cox family enjoys the outdoors, cooking, live music, and traveling. They are looking forward to growing their family here and becoming members of the Summit County community.

Dr. Julie McKenzie

Dr. Julie McKenzie is a board-certified Family Medicine physician and Colorado native. After graduating from the local Summit High, she received her undergraduate degree in Molecular biology from the University of Colorado Boulder. She graduated at the top of her class from Rocky Vista University for Osteopathic medical school. She then completed her family medicine residency at St. Anthony Central North Hospital, where she received additional training in surgical obstetrics and neonatal care.

She takes a holistic approach to caring for the entire family with a particular interest in sports medicine, women’s health, and pediatrics. As a Doctor of Osteopathy, she utilizes Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) to help promote wellness in her patients.

She moved back to the Centennial State with her husband, Sean, and daughter, Emery, in 2018. They also just welcomed their second child, Colin, in 2020. When she’s not working, Dr. McKenzie enjoys all the best things Summit County has to offer: mountain biking, trail running, hiking, skinning, kayaking, snowboarding, and skiing.

SMWC - Dr. Kathleen Cowie

Dr. Kathleen Cowie

Dr. Kathleen “Kacy” Cowie is a family physician with a special interest in women’s health and enjoys caring for women of all ages. She believes in empowering her patients to be their best advocates and strives to provide quality patient-centered care. Fluent in the Spanish language and passionate about providing compassionate medical care at home and abroad, she has volunteered on outreach trips in Honduras, Peru, Bolivia, and Guatemala.

Dr. Cowie graduated from Loyola Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in 2006. She completed her family medicine residency at St. Anthony Central North Hospital in Denver. Despite growing up in Ohio, she fell in love with the Colorado Rockies and decided to call it home. She worked at Salud Family Health Centers in Commerce City and Platte Valley hospital in Brighton for four years, practicing full-spectrum family medicine, including obstetrics and newborn care. In 2012, Dr. Cowie joined Summit Community Care Clinic. During her free time, she spends time in her beloved outdoors with her husband Jason, their adorable twin boys, and her therapy dog, Uno.

Laura Amedro, NP

Family Nurse Practitioner Laura Amedro, a Colorado native, brings experience in family medicine, critical care, and OB-GYN. She obtained her undergraduate degree in nursing from Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York, and worked as a Registered Nurse for seven years before pursuing her graduate degree. She obtained her master’s degree in nursing and her Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Michigan State University. She believes in providing holistic and individualized care to people over their lifetime. This begins by developing a working partnership with her patients to help them achieve their health-centered goals.

She is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and consistently participates in continuing medical education to keep her practice current. She is married to her husband, Brett, with whom she shares two children. She and her family enjoy the active, outdoor lifestyle that Summit County has to offer.

Molly Lee, NP

Molly Lee is a nurse practitioner who is passionate about promoting the health of members of her community and experienced in inpatient nursing, critical care, and community health nursing. She has an undergraduate nursing degree from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida, and graduated from Regis University in Denver.

She is a board-certified family nurse practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She attended Breckenridge Elementary School and now volunteers there as a Reading Buddy. She and her husband, Darryl, enjoy camping, biking and are avid skiers. She is a novice knitter determined to improve and enjoys reading books with her cat, Paperweight, on her lap.
