Services Our OB-GYN Specialists Provide

At Swan Mountain Women’s & Family Clinic, our team of OB-GYNs provides services to address various conditions concerning women’s health. From infertility to pregnancy and from surgical conditions to menopause, we are here to be your partners in care.

Our OB-GYN doctors also perform screenings to detect serious health conditions, provide preventative healthcare, and educate our patients so that we can make decisions together.

Here are the fields our obstetricians and gynecologists specialize in:

Obstetrics

Bearing a child is one of the most wonderful moments in a woman’s life. However, it’s no secret that many challenges accompany pregnancy. Our OB-GYNs provide obstetric services to help hopeful parents safely deal with these challenges successfully.

We provide prenatal care to ensure a happy and healthy pregnancy experience. Our OB-GYN experts will be with you every step of the way from your first visit through your delivery and the postpartum period. Our obstetric team is made up of board-certified physicians so you can be assured that an expert will be delivering your baby.

To help women deal with the challenges brought about by the postpartum period, we also provide postnatal care and counseling.

We are committed to helping women navigate pregnancy in the best possible way. Opting for our services means receiving reliable care and treatment during any phase of your pregnancy.

Gynecology

While you may not need a Pap test every year, that doesn’t mean you should skip your yearly gynecological visits. With many health challenges occurring in a woman’s life, it’s essential for you to see medical experts annually.

We provide a broad range of women’s healthcare services. Our team of OB-GYN doctors conducts screenings to catch minor reproductive health issues before they become serious or life-threatening.

If you’re planning to have a baby soon, we have pre-conception counseling and services to optimize your health prior to conception.

We treat a range of female conditions such as frequent urinary tract infections and recurrent vaginal discharge.

Our OB-GYN experts also conduct overall health assessments to see if you have any conditions that may affect your sexual or reproductive health.

Fertility Treatment

According to the US Department of Health and Human Services, 9% of men and 11% of women in the United States experience fertility problems. If you are less than 35 years old and have been trying to get pregnant for one year or over 35 years old and have been trying to conceive for 6 months, it is time to schedule an infertility consultation.

The first step of the workup will be a thorough history and physical exam. Laboratory tests and an ultrasound as well as other studies may also be indicated. Infertility has many different causes and sometimes is unexplained. Our obstetricians and gynecologists offer a range of services for infertility at Swan Mountain. We are sometimes able to help our patients achieve pregnancy through ovulation induction or intrauterine insemination (IUI). For patients that need a higher level of care, such as in-vitro fertilization, we work closely with several different fertility clinics in Denver to provide local monitoring.

We dedicate ourselves to helping women who want a successful and safe pregnancy. Our team of OB-GYN specialists also provides other services, including prenatal imaging and diagnosis, donor sperm insemination, and genetic testing and counseling.

Birth Control

Birth control can be an important part of family planning. When you visit us to discuss options for birth control, our OB-GYNs will discuss every option you have along with its risks, benefits, and alternatives.

Birth control also has other benefits. For instance, according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, oral contraceptives make you 50% less susceptible to uterine and ovarian cancer.

Our team of OB-GYN experts provides the full range of birth control options, including sterilization or tubal ligation, oral contraceptives, birth control shots, dermal implants, and contraceptive rings and patches. We also offer intrauterine device (IUD) placement. Long acting reversible contraceptives (IUDs and dermal implants) are the most effective forms of birth control on the market.

We carry both the progesterone IUDs (Mirena, Kyleena, and Skyla) and the non-hormonal copper IUD (Paragard). We are the only OB-GYN experts in Summit county that offer the copper IUD.

Menopausal Management

Menopause is defined by going a year without menstruation. In the United States, the average age is 52 years old.

Women may experience different symptoms during the menopausal period. For instance, some might encounter mood changes, while others might have to deal with sleep problems or vaginal dryness.

Regardless of the symptoms, our OB-GYN practitioners specialize in menopausal management. We provide different treatment options at our office, and we’ll determine the best one for you.

We provide a range of individualized hormone replacement therapy (estrogen and/or progesterone).

Depending on your health history and comorbidities, we can also prescribe non-hormonal medications to address your symptoms.

Minimally Invasive Surgery

Sometimes there are gynecologic conditions that require surgery. One of our OB-GYN physicians, Dr. Holly Hickman specializes in robotic surgery, a minimally invasive approach to GYN surgery. It involves the use of a robotic system controlled by our experts in real time.

With this latest technological advancement, our OB-GYN specialists can perform minimally invasive procedures that previously required open surgery. Our robotic-assisted approach helps us perform surgery with more precision due to the 3D high definition optics and tiny “wristed” instruments that have greater range of motion than traditional laparoscopic instruments and even the human hand.

Robotic surgery may also have a shorter recovery period, less blood loss, and less pain.
